Can i use frozen chicken?

Yes you can. One of the great things about a pressure cooker is that it cooks the meat without freezing it, drying it, or creating a rubbery texture. You want to keep the chicken pieces separate to make sure they cook evenly. Bake for 20 minutes instead of 12 minutes.

What's the Best Chicken for Teriyaki?

Either way, you will obtain shredded chicken (unless you want to keep your chicken whole) so the cut is entirely up to you. Bone meat is usually tastier, but boneless meat tends to be more meaty. In any case, the Instant Pot always delivers tender, juicy chicken.

Boneless chicken breast is usually my choice as it is meaty and I don't have to worry about the bones. If you are using bones, cook it for 20 minutes, just like frozen chicken. Pay attention to the required amount of liquid. Bones and boneless produce different amounts of liquid when they are cooked.

Extra ingredients for extra flavor

  • Pineapple or orange juice gives it an extra sweetness.
  • Red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  • Sesame seeds and spring onions are an option to garnish and give it that extra take-away feel!
  • Add some brown sugar for a darker color and a slightly sweeter and stickier effect.
  • Skip the garlic and only use ginger, but I like to use both.

Instant Pot Chicken Teriyaki serving options

When serving in front of a crowd, you can abandon the pressure cooker on the hot function until everyone is alert to eat. Take both white rice or cooked quinoa and a side steamed vegetables available and people can prepare their own plates and help themselves straight from the pot. Get a small more Teriyaki sauce For everyone who wants a small more.

Store, freeze and reheat

  • To store: After cooling completely, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze: Transfer to a freezer-friendly bag and store frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
  • To warm up: When you have a large amount, you can reheat it in the Instant Pot or on the stove over low heat. Microwave is fine if you only reheat a single serving for yourself. You may need to squirt a small more sauce, or if it gets too thick you may need to pour in some water to add some liquid.
