Bridge house from 123DV
Bridge House is a luxury contemporary residence in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Designed by 123DV, the same studio behind their design Cloud 9 villas and 360 villasMeanwhile, both splendid residences, this house offers minimalist modern living space on almost 9,000 square meters, surrounded by lush landscapes.
The streets are lined with wildflowers. In summer, purple and yellow purple blooms. Half-timbered farmhouses, fenced-in meadows, ancient fields and fabulous thick trunks make you forget your thoughts. This villa is located on newly developed property in the unique tree-lined landscape of Achterhoek, Netherlands, where unexpected views of the rural beauty are always right next door.
The front and perimeter of the house is a large open space that stylishly frames the park, most of which is open to strollers. The park in turn blends in with the surrounding landscape. The landscape architect for this project has carefully restored the property to its original state, with rows of trees like theater backdrops. In order to make the soil less fruitful, the top layer was removed from the entire property. In the name of sustainability, this floor was reused to create a raised area under the house. The result is a traditional Dutch warft house, a hilltop house that houses the basement.
Sustainability also inspired the design of the house. The villa is self-sufficient. Users can abandon the network at any time without losing their energy resources. The water is drawn from a private well and practical and sustainable integrated functions conclude solar panels, roof and floor heating via thermal energy storage, rainwater reuse, a septic tank, shielded power cables and a heat mirror. This unique glass acts as an efficient and environmentally friendly awning, cooling the house and keeping excess heat out.
