Healthier Fireworks Chicken Breast in the Pan
  • Chicken- If I use chicken breasts here, you can easily replace them with boneless and skinless chicken legs. Shrimp or tofu can be great options too!
  • bitter sauce This recipe was tested with Frank's Red Hot Sauce. Replacing with buffalo sauce or wing sauce can make for a lighter seasoning than if they are diluted with butter and other ingredients. It may be possible to substitute sriracha or other hot sauces for the hot sauce, but alternatives were not tested in this recipe.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar- adds a spicy taste to the sauce; We love Bragg's brand, but any type / brand of apple cider vinegar will work in this recipe.
  • Corn starch helps to thicken the sauce; If you're looking for a corn-free version, replace it with arrowroot starch.
  • Vegetables- We're using spiraled zucchini and edamame here, but you can also substitute your favorite vegetables: green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers work great, but you need to cook them first.

1. Cover the chicken Throw the chicken cubes into the cornstarch. Use tongs to mix up all of the chicken cubes and make sure they are all covered.

2. Prepare the sauce- In a glass or Salad dressing shakerCombine Frank's red hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, and honey.

3. Cook the chicken Heat the olive oil in a medium pan over medium heat. Add the chicken / cornstarch and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is golden and completely cooked.

4. Add the sauce When the chicken is fully cooked, pour the mixture of honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar over everything and toss the chicken to coat. When the sauce thickens slightly, remove it from the heat.

5. Portioning and storage among the four 2 cups food prep containerDivide the cooked rice, finished vegetables, and chicken. Be sure to pour the rest of the sauce into the pan.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; While it's hot in the microwave, heat, mix, and enjoy.

Fireworks chicken hot?

Yes, it has a medium spice content. You can increase the heat by increasing the amount of Frank's red-hot sauce or adding chili peppers to bowls.

Can i freeze it?

Yes, but I would replace the spiral squash with another broccoli baked in vegetables. Peas or green beans can freeze / thaw well. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Do I have to add edamame?

No! Feel free to abandon it out or replace it with a vegetable you love.

  • a refrigerator- Let cool completely, then refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days
  • Freeze- Replace the pumpkin with another vegetable (boiled broccoli, peas, or green beans will do). Let cool completely and store in a sturdy and airtight container. Freeze for up to 3 months.
  • thawing- Overnight in the refrigerator or microwave with low power consumption (depending on the quality of your containers)
  • Warm up Heat it in the microwave until it evaporates.

Recipe exchange:

  • Chicken breast– Exchange for chicken legs. Cooking time can be 1-2 minutes longer, but chicken legs stay even better in recipes than chicken breasts! Shrimp and tofu would be great in this recipe too.
  • Pumpkin and Edamame– Replace it with other vegetables, but you need to sauté things like peppers, peas, carrots, broccoli.
