Crumble vs Crispy

Before we commence, let's take a close look at what makes a crispy topping. And why do we mix it up so often for a crispy topping? And if we make it crispy then why do we call it crumbly? Are you confused already? I absolutely seek, but don't worry, I'm with myself!

Both crumbled and french fries lie on top of a boiled fruit filling. Both are made from flour, brown sugar, and butter, but technically a crispy, oat-like appearance is added. Apple crispy dessert Recipe. It doesn't splinter. A crispy crumble top is usually lighter in weight and creates a crispy oatmeal texture while being slightly denser.

While the actual answer is technically a difference, they are used interchangeably so often that no one bothered to obtain them right! And we're totally good at it because the difference is so small and they're both delicious!

It's a bit of both with this mixed blueberry pie with a crumbly top! Yes, we use oats like crunch, but the bottom crust gives it a slightly firmer texture and a heavier swallow. So let's call it crumbly!

Tips for the top blackberry cake

  • Use cold butter to break it open. This way, it will take longer for the top to melt so it stays kind and crispy.
  • Fruit rate. I use raspberries about twice as much as blackberries and blueberries, but you can find your preferred ratio. In fact, you can make a crumbled cake entirely out of a variety of fruit if you want!
  • Make this gluten free Replacing gluten-free 1: 1 all-purpose flour not only in the crumble top, but also in the pie crust. You also want to make sure that your oats are gluten-free.
  • Add foil to the sides of the cake If you detect the crust is turning brown too quickly.
  • If you are using frozen mixed fruitsRemove the strawberries and save them for another delicious summer fruit recipe. Thaw the remaining fruits slightly and drain the excess water.
  • With a homemade crust. If i do that simple pie crust You only need half of the recipe. You can follow the recipe as directed and freeze the second pie crust for up to 3 months or just make half the batch.

Storage and rewarming

After the fruit cake has cooled completely, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The taste of this crumb is so good both at room temperature and hot that the choice is yours. If you like hot cake as opposed to a scoop of ice cream, be sure to heat it in the oven at 350 ° C.° F. 15-20 minutes, depending on how much is left. If it's only a small piece, you can also microwave it for 30 seconds.

Can i freeze it?

Freezing this crumbled cake is definitely possible, but if you thaw it you may find that it is runny, wet, and not as attractive as it was before. If you plan to move it forward and freeze it in pieces like the fruit filling, the crust will freeze very well on its own. Thaw before assembling, sprinkle with streusel and cook as indicated.
