This Instant Pot Fried Rice is adapted from my favorite. fried rice with eggsHowever, it bypasses the need to pre-cook your rice. Instead, we cook our rice in the Instant Pot, saving time and putting it on the table in under 40 minutes!

  • Rice- You will need long grain white rice for this recipe. I recommend using basmati.
  • Chicken- It's optional, but it adds protein and makes that fried rice more filling. Replace or abandon out shrimp, pork.
  • Soy sauce- I used soy sauce with reduced sodium and found that the rice needed some salt. If you're using regular soy sauce, don't add too much salt. In the end, you can try it and add it if necessary.
  • Warehouse- Use chicken or vegetables or plain water
  • Vegetables- Carrots and frozen peas are used in this recipe. You can clean and put your refrigerator inside. If there are more tender or frozen vegetables, add them after cooking.
  • Egg After we cook the rice, we mix the eggs; You can't fit much more than 4 eggs. So if you plan to increase the number of eggs, I recommend mixing them one by one and then folding them along with the chicken.

FAQ

Why don't we use the Rice setting in the Instant Pot?

In side-by-side experiments, I found that rice cooked under high pressure was softer and had a better texture than rice cooked on the "Rice" setting. This recipe has only been tested under high pressure so I don't cognize how to cook it on a rice setting (abandon us a comment if you try!).

What is the water: rice ratio in the Instant Pot?

When cooking rice on the stove, we use a ratio of 2 cups of water: 1 cup of rice, but the Instant Pot is a closed environment and very small liquid leaks out during cooking. For this reason we use the ratio of 1 glass of water to 2 glasses of rice.

Can I commute the type of rice?

It can be, but if you replace it with brown rice or a wild rice mix, your carrots will obtain completely mushy, and you may want to stick with vegetables that you can add after they're cooked.

If you want to replace it with brown rice, use the 22 minute high pressure cooking cycle and 28 minutes for the brown basmati and wild rice mixture. Provide completely natural pressure relief for both of you.

Storage and preparation of meals

Fried rice is great for food preparation. This recipe can be kept in the refrigerator or freezer. Double the recipe and divide it into servings!

Variations

  • Vegetarian- take out the chicken; You can increase the number of eggs for extra protein if you'd like (you should mix them in a separate pan though as they won't fit in the instant cooker).
  • vegan- Remove the chicken and try adding mixed tofu as a source of protein
  • Bean curd Add crispy baked tofu or whipped tofu (cook separately)
  • Shrimp- Before cooking the eggs, cook the shrimp in a small sesame oil. Add it again when you add the eggs again.
  • Mushroom Slice the roasting button or creamy mushrooms with onions and carrots
  • Vietnamese- Replace the soy sauce with a mixture of fish sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Vietnam style

1- This recipe was tested with basmati rice but should work well with any long grain white rice. If you replace it with long grain brown rice, set the cooking time to 22 minutes with the natural pressure relief. For brown basmati wild rice mix, use 28 minutes with natural pressure relief.
2- You can remove the chicken or replace it with boiled shrimp, pork or crispy tofu.
