Content notes

Necessary ingredients for making salmon with teriyaki glaze
  • Salmon- Start with four relatively equal servings of 5-6 ounces of salmon. This recipe works top for a thick, medium serving of salmon. If you have a lean tail, frying is better for you! See how to cook salmon
  • Honey- can be replaced with brown sugar or maple syrup; alternative sweeteners not tested
  • Soy sauce- Replace tamari or coconut amino with a gluten-free version of this recipe
  • Mirin It is a Japanese edible wine that gives the recipe a certain "Teriyaki" flavor. You can trade it in for white wine, make sake, or just abandon it out.
  • Cornstarch added in the last 2-3 minutes in the oven; You can trade for arrowroot powder (try amount)

3. Thickening Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water. Pour the teriyaki sauce evenly into the baking dish and gently stir the sauce with tongs. Return to the oven for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and thickened and the salmon reaches 125 ° F.

Let rest 3-4 minutes before serving.

Check the salmon with an instant thermometer

Salmon can be dry and shabby if overcooked. Since salmon fillets can vary in thickness and size, using an instantly readable thermometer is the top way to avoid boiling over. For this recipe, I recommend cooking the salmon over medium rarity (125 ° F). If you prefer your salmon to be medium / fine, cook it at 145 ° F.

  • medium cooked While the salmon is at 110 ° F, add the cornstarch, then cook to 125 ° F.
  • Middle good While the salmon is 130 ° F, add the cornstarch, then cook to 145 ° F.

FAQ

What if I can't find Mirin?

Mirin is a Japanese rice wine and I see it add that final layer of flavor needed to make a good teriyaki sauce. If you don't have mirin or sake, you can switch places to cook sherry or white wine. And if you want, you can rule it out entirely. It's a slight commute in taste and still tasty without it!

How can I make this recipe gluten free?

Just replace the soy sauce with tamari or coconut amines and make sure your myrrh is truly gluten-free. Also, check if your cornstarch is gluten free!

Can I use bottled teriyaki sauce?

Yes, but you should add it in the last 2 minutes of cooking time as it will have gotten dark. Otherwise, there is a risk of the sauce becoming too reduced and dry and concentrated.

Can I use this recipe for food preparation?

Teriyaki glazed salmon does not hold up well and should be served fresh. If you want to prepare some of these in advance, you can shake the sauce and store it in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks beforehand.
