  2. Chocolate chips: Use semi-sweet, milky, or dark chocolate chips as desired.
  3. White chocolate chips: Because one type of chocolate is definitely not enough!
  4. Butterscotch Chips: I love adding these in to create more variety and depth of flavor.
  5. Walnuts: Use raw walnuts that are cut into pieces.
  6. Sweetened condensed milk: This helps the bars to be super sticky and tasty.
  7. Coconut: Be sure to use sweetened coconuts. If you're not a coconut fan, you can always abandon this one.

How to make 7-ply beams

  1. BOWL. In a medium bowl, combine the graham crumbs and butter with a fork. Then, press the crumbs into a lined baking sheet.
  2. COMBINE. The next layer consists of chocolate and white chips, butter chips and nuts. Then pour the condensed milk over it evenly. Sprinkle with coconut.
  3. TO BAKE. Place in the oven at 350 ° F for 20-25 minutes, until the top is lightly browned. Let cool, then cut into squares.

NOTE: If you're wondering how to cut diamonds, make horizontal cuts about an inch and a half apart in the pan. Then make diagonal cuts in the pan about an inch and a half apart. Then carefully remove from the pan and serve. I think it's top to use plastic knives.

Cooking tips + varieties

  • DIY graham cracker crumbs. Put the graham crackers in a food processor and mix until good. Alternatively, you can put them in a zippered bag and crush them with a rolling pin. It takes about 7 to 8 graham crackers to make 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs. Use about 10 graham crackers to make 1 1/2 cups for this recipe.
  • Bowl. You can also use a crushed cracker crust that resembles the crust of my cracker crust. Raspberry jelly pretzel salad. This adds a kind hearty taste!
  • Coconut substitute. You can definitely go without coconut if you prefer these magical cookie sticks. However, if you want to add a 7th layer, add pieces of pretzel, mini marshmallows, or more nuts.
  • Align the ceiling. Make sure to line your pan with parchment paper or foil so the sticks don't stick to the bottom of the pan. I like to abandon enough parchment around the edges so that I can easily grab it and remove the sticks from the pan.
  • Let's set it up. Though tempting, let the sticks cool completely before serving. Evaporated milk takes time to settle, otherwise sticks can flow. You can glue the pan on the fridge to speed up the cooling process.

  • To store: This dessert will last around 3-4 days when stored in an airtight container or bag at room temperature. If kept in the refrigerator, it will be stored for a few more days.
  • Freeze: Wait for the pan to cool completely, then cut into squares or diamonds. Then put in a freezer or bag and store in the freezer for up to 2 months.
