Simple ingredients for great taste

Honey sesame sauce in this recipe is one of my favorite sauces because it is a great mix of sweet, salty, umami and spicy. You not only need delicious, but also simple pantry staple foods: soy sauce, honey, sesame oil and paprika flakes … it's that simple!

It absorbs the taste when cooking chicken sauce. After cooking, we add a cornstarch slurry to thicken it. This helps the sauce stick to the chicken and intensify its taste.

Chicken breast is one of my favorite proteins in fast cooking as it is lovely and juicy every time!

What Are the Secrets of Big Chicken Breast in Instant Pot?

  1. Cook in a delicious sauce (we covered it with our honey sesame sauce).
  2. Don't overpressure – 8 minutes of high pressure rapid pressure relief works perfectly for medium sized chicken breasts (7oz; extend cooking time by 1-2 minutes if you have a larger chicken breast).
  3. Let rest before slicing – rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to seal the juices

Note – This recipe has only been tested in a 6 liter instant container and I cannot say if it will be printed in an 8 liter instant container (1.5 glasses of liquid are required to apply pressure).

Turn it into a "frying pan"

If you want to cook vegetables with sauce, add them after the chicken is fully cooked. Remove the chicken, add the vegetables and select the "roast" function in the instant pot. Cook until tender, then add to the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. Cut the chicken, add it again and make yourself a delicious pan.

Other proteins that you can use

The kind thing about this recipe is that you can replace chicken breast with almost any other protein! Some of my favorites for cooking on Instant Pot:

  • Boneless chicken legs– Increase the cooking time to 10 minutes high pressure with fast pressure relief

You can prepare the Ready Pot Honey Sesame Chicken in two ways:

Frozen alert meal

Combine broth, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, chilli flakes, and chicken breast in a high-performance sandwich-sized freezer bag to put together “freezer packs” so you don't have to measure on the day of the cook 6 cups bowl for food preparation.

If possible, squeeze the air out and then freeze it for up to 3 months.

to bake– Dissolve completely before cooking as described above. I don't cognize if this works as a completely frozen instant pot dish as the sauce is necessary to pressurize the pot.

Warm up meals

  • Mix chicken broth, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil and paprika flakes on the bottom of the 6-liter instant pot (see * note).

  • Add the chicken breast.

  • Close the valve and cook manually for 8 minutes at high pressure.

  • Relieve pressure quickly (use a spoon to press the valve on "bleed" as soon as the timer beeps).

  • Open the instant pot and take the chicken breast out on a cutting board to rest for 5 minutes.

  • Mix cornstarch with 2-3 tablespoons of cold water and mix the sauce under the alert cooker.

  • Set it to "saute" and heat it until it foams and thickens. Use the oven glove to remove the instant pot bottom so the sauce doesn't burn.

  • Cut the chicken breast into slices and pour the sauce over them. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

How to make freezer packs:

  • Combine chicken broth, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, chilli flakes and chicken breast in a sturdy quartet bag.

  • Squeeze out as much air as possible and freeze for up to 3 months.

  • For cooking: thaw completely, then 3-8 on top. Follow the instructions.

For warm-up preparation trays:

  • Serve on rice and steamed vegetables (4 cups of vegetables such as sauce, pepper, peas, green beans, or asparagus can be fried for 3-5 minutes before adding the sauce and adding cornstarch).

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
