Perfect baked energy bites (+ 7 flavors!)

No oven bite has all the aromas of granola bars that are compressed into small, bite-sized portions. Like my favorite cereal bars (find 7 cereal bar flavors here!) it is simple to prepare energy bites and prepare a delicious, portable snack.

  • peanut butter– All natural hazelnut pastes work for this recipe. Hazelnut paste binds our dry ingredients together and helps keep everything together. You can use all natural hazelnut pastes, including peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, and even sunflower oil. Make sure your hazelnut crush contains no ingredients other than hazelnuts (and possibly salt). Processed hazelnut paste with palm oil is also not included in this recipe.
  • Coconut oil– Prevents energy bites from drying out and helps them to solidify in the refrigerator. If you don't have coconut oil, replace it with an additional tablespoon of hazelnut cream.
  • liquid sweetener– Honey or maple syrup provide sweetness and combine everything. I have not tested with other liquid sweeteners.
  • oatmeal– These are the simple dry ingredients that collect energy bites. Don't use fast oats, your bites can be calcareous and dry. Oatmeal is sometimes referred to as "large flakes" or "ancient fashioned".
  • ground laundry– Additional protein is added for fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. If you don't have ground flax, you need to increase the amount of oatmeal in this recipe.

Optional, but recommended:

  • Chia beans– Add omega-3 fatty acids and fiber supplements.

First mix wet ingredients

Melt the coconut oil in a microwave-secure bowl and mix with hazelnut cream and honey (or maple syrup). By mixing our liquids together, they can first be completely combined and distributed evenly over the energy bites.
