Cauliflower rice is a great low-carb, vegetarian heavy alternative for rice. This article shows how to make, cook and store seven different cauliflower rice recipes full of cauliflower rice and flavor!

Cauliflower rice is a great low-carb alternative to rice and a delicious way to add extra vegetables even when you serve it Chicken curry or with a side dish baked chicken breast. Without a doubt, the tastiest cauliflower rice is made from scratch and is easier to prepare than you think.

Cauliflower rice is a fabulous low-carb supplement

While not a full copy of genuine rice, it's a great rice alternative to serve with cauliflower rice, roasts, curries, and more! Because cauliflower contains fewer carbohydrates (5 grams of carbohydrates per 1 cup of cauliflower rice), it is a popular choice among low-keto and low-carb diets. It is also popular for those who avoid grain and follow the paleo diet.

Cauliflower rice is also a great way to squeeze some extra vegetables into your diet, so I personally enjoyed it!

How to make cauliflower rice

Cauliflower rice is cauliflower that is cut into small, rice-sized pieces. There is more than one way to do this! Here are three options:

1. Food processor

The top method is to use a food processor with an S-shaped steel blade. Find my favorite processor + other kitchen appliances my shop!

  • a. Wash and dry the cauliflower.
  • b. Cut 1-2 inches of flower. Try to obtain them the same size.
  • c. Blow 10-15 times until the rice is cut into large pieces.
  • d. If there are random large cauliflower flowers, select them.

TIPS

  • Work in batches (2-3 lots / cauliflower head)
  • Do not overfill the food processor as it does not work evenly

Watch the video below to see how to make full cauliflower rice. Note that the moisture wringing step is completely optional and I am generally not disturbed.

2. Crate grater

By "grating" cauliflower on a box of grater, you can make cauliflower rice. It's messy and time-consuming, but it does the job.

3. Knife

You can also chop the cauliflower with a very lean knife. The only problem is that buying rice pieces of the same size can be difficult and not evenly cooked.

How to cook

NOTE – Cauliflower rice can vary in size if you are making it from scratch, buying it frozen or fresh. Use the cooking time as a guess and use your top judgment when cooking.

  1. heat oil in a pan. If used, add chopped cauliflower and additional spices.
  2. sautee 3-5 minutes or cauliflower rice is prepared according to your wishes. It should be a bit softer, but not emotional.
  3. stir Any additional ingredients needed for the following 7 cauliflower rice recipes (e.g. coconut milk for coconut cauliflower rice or salsa for spicy Mexican cauliflower rice).

storage

Cauliflower holds the rice incredibly well for food preparation.

fridge

Store raw cauliflower rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 7-10 days.

Store the cooked cauliflower rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

freezer

Allow to cool completely to freeze and place in a reusable silicone bag, a plastic freezer bag or a container for food preparation.

Store raw or cooked cauliflower rice in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Denise & # 39; s tips for PERFECT Cauli rice

  1. Use a food processor– A food processor is the top way to obtain cauliflower rice of the same size
  2. smooth parts– Cut the florets into even pieces before processing, as they help process cauliflower rice of the same size
  3. work in groups– Do not overfill the food processor, otherwise parts may jam and cannot mature properly
  4. Boil over– It's a 3-5 minute guide, but depending on the size of your cauliflower rented, you may want to add or subtract time. Cook until soft and slightly hot.

Should I squeeze my cauliflower rice?

I was wondering if squeezing moisture out of raw cauliflower (with cheese cloth) makes a difference, so I tested it.

Pressing the liquid before cooking made a difference because the top (not pinched) cauliflower rice was always softer and the "pressed" cauliflower rice on the bottom had a nicer texture, similar to normal rice. The "stuck" cauliflower rice had a tastier "walnut" taste.

However … it was more work and a bit messy and I don't think it was worth the difference in taste. I will skip this step in the future!

How good is cauliflower rice in the fridge?

I routinely use cauliflower rice in my fridge recipes that last up to 4 days. Does it smell good on day 4? No! But it is delicious and still gathers all the nutritional benefits for you! I have been freezing it personally for more than 4 days. Cauliflower rice certainly doesn't last as long as the entire cauliflower head.

How much cauliflower rice do you obtain from the cauliflower head?

5-10 cups! It's quite difficult to answer because the size of the cauliflower heads varies a lot. Some small cauliflowers produce 5 cups of ripe cauliflower, while larger cauliflower heads can produce 10 cups! Remember that you can keep extras up to 10 days in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in the freezer if you obtain extras.
