Llull Apartment by Ylab Arquitectos
YLAB Arquitectos Barcelona is a Spanish-German architectural firm founded by Tobias Laarmann and Yolanda Yuste. YLAB, one of the studios in Barcelona, is involved in the planning, management and construction of architectural and interior design projects. YLAB specializes in residential, commercial and corporate design.
The project took the form of an apartment in a modern residential building in Diagonal Mar Park, just a few meters from the beach.
The owners, a couple in love with Barcelona, wanted to renovate this apartment to experience the proximity to the sea and the tranquility of this part of the city. They wanted to turn their two-bedroom apartment into a comfortable and functional one-bedroom apartment while trying to open the interconnected main areas through a lovely window overlooking the park and the sea.
Ylab Arquitectos offered a completely modern layout, which focused on the main bedroom in a large window, with the common area of kitchen and living room taking precedence.
The apartment offers maximum storage space thanks to the large floor-to-ceiling cupboard and the dividing walls along the entire perimeter. Oak cabinets are replaced by white polished wall cladding, so that swing doors can be installed flat and sliding doors can be concealed. Gurdo's wood and lacquered woodwork combine excellence with the natural oak parquet Ondo by Admonter.
The white paint starts at the entrance and connects to the kitchen and is separated by a revolving door with JNF. The custom-made kitchen is equipped with kitchen appliances such as the Novy Pure Line extractor hoods and the Franke Crystal Line sinks and faucets. The spray racks are decorated with Möbler's Normann Copenhagen and Hay pieces. The central white kitchen island is equipped with black stools by Aytm and ceiling lights by Delta Light. The kitchen extends to the living room and the terrace and is separated by a central element that hides a pillar and the view of the sea at the back.
The living room is aligned along a large window consisting of several windows surrounded by a graphite frame surrounded by the master bedroom. This frame is mounted on the sidewalk on the terrace, improves the appearance while concealing Delta Light lamps and motorized Silent Gliss slats. This inner wall is surrounded by plants in self-watering plants of Hobby Flower.
The living room is furnished with a gray sofa next to the Milan floor lamp under Claudia Valsell's exclusive artwork. On the Francisco Cumellas rug, two Aytm bags, a Vitra deck chair, and a low desk by Sanna Völkers completed the furniture set.
The master bedroom with Sibast chair and Cumellas rug and reading area is decorated with textiles by Materia. A back closet leads to a white-tiled bathroom, Cristina's floating oak sink and taps.
Terrace floors and tailor-made growers with bush smith graphite. Isist's BKF leather lounge chairs are fitted with Francisco Cumella's rug and hobby flower pots.
The project includes Bticino's minimalist Livinglight Air and the Legran control system, as well as Netatmo and Valena Next. Architectural lighting belongs to Deltalight.
This project was made public during Barcelona Design Week 2019. Franke, Bticino, JNF, Hobby Flower, Fusteria Gurdo, Admonter, Delta Light, Ikebe, Silent Gliss. Novy and Cristina.
